Shadow Of the Colosssus (PAL) SCES_533.26
PS2 Version: SCPH-30003 R (PAL)
Using FMCB 1.8, ESR beta r9b dvdv direct (which never seems to automatically load, the one time it did I got some results - see below) and patched with ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a
Burned with ImgBurn at 1.0x on a Verbatim DVD-R
Get a quick blue horizontal line flash a quarter of the way from the bottom of the screen which then turns magenta. The screen goes black for a long while, with the occasional loading circle in the bottom right hand corner.
In about 20 attempts I've managed to once get to the pal/ntsc screen, language selection screen, the the 'sony entertainment presents' screen which is sustained for a few minutes. The opening movie played with a few jutters but the same short sample of music replays over and over, then freezes.

Don't do that, burning today medias with that slow speed makes things worse burn at 4x or 8x speed.

Gitaroo Man (NTSC-J) SPLM 65012
Ripped with DVD Decrypter, patched with ESR disc patcher GUI v0.24a
PS2: SCPH 30001R
Tried with:
FMCB 1.8 + ESR r9b dvdv direct
uLaunchElf 4.39 + ESR r9b GUI test2
(also tried GUI test2's "Synchronous Mode" & "Disable after first IOP reset" options, both of which prevented the game from booting)
Burned on: Memorex DVD-R 2x (Yea, I know it's not that great, but this seems to also affect Verbatim users.)
Bug:
Boots up fine, FMVs are working fine, nothing noticeable until one tries to play a non-tutorial stage. When that happens, the stage loads without sound, then soon hangs (animations keep looping) when it gets to the next section of the song. It's possible to pause, but retrying the stage freezes at a black screen.

PS2 Model: SCPH-79001 (3 lid sensors), NTSC-U
Game: Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, NTSC-U
Game ID: SCUS_973.53
IOP: IOPRP300.IMG
Disc Patcher: ESR Patcher GUI 0.24a
FMCB 1.8 + ESR r9b GUI test2 (no options)
The colors flash on the edges of the screen and they went kind of fast but this is what I caught before it hangs at the black screen.
right side: red, blue, magenta, cyan
left side: red, blue, red?, magenta, cyan?, green (right side still shows cyan)

Jack And Daxter The Precursor Legacy
I have a problem with Jack And Daxter The Precursor Legacy. It boots and works perfectly with the ESR GUI version except that you can't save. It freezes whenever I try to save. Anybody found a solution to fix this?
SCPH - 70004
Burned on verbatim at 4X.
Used ESR GUI VERSION with both option on.

Help A NOOB?
Im new and I need som help now this is a 2 step problem Im tying to play Disgaea 2 cursed memories and the ESR patcher says it was successful Now here's my problem. when I get to burning the patched iso with IMGBURN I set the speed for 16x and start burn, it will do it's thing and shortly after it will say in the Log "write speed miscompare wanted 16x got 8x" something along those lines now I was fine Ididn't think it would matter the files were written.
But when I put it into the PS2 I got ESR screen hit load and then got stuck at a purple screen.
CAN SOMEONE EXPAIN? PLEASE
original ISO.
Please ask if any more info is needed.

Are you sure of this ?
Because as far as I can tell from your screenshot, that disc is not patched.

This probably means that ImgBurn was unable to determine the speed limits of your DVD burner, and initially 'wanted' to try a speed higher than the drive would accept. This should not affect the quality of the burning, as it would only cause ImgBurn to accept burning at the lower speed that the drive needed.

I'm not sure how you made your screenshot, as it only shows the contents of a window, so I don't know if it is from a normal explorer window or from a custom window of some CDVD application. But the content it shows is not that of an ESR-patched disc.
Your listing here shows some of the files and folders using lower-case names, while others use upper-case names. This matches the original content listing of the UDF filesystem that a proper ESR patch should have 'hidden' from normal access (without the ESR driver active). What should have been accessible is a dummy DVD-Video set in the UDF filesystem plus the normal ISO9660 filesystem of the game, where all names of files and folders alike always use upper-case only.
So my conclusion is that something went wrong with your ESR-patching of this game.
This is assuming that you showed us the content of the disc that failled for you, as we would have little interest in seeing the contents of a disc not used in the ESR test, except for comparing the two discs...
If you did show us the wrong disc here, then we still have no clue as to what is on the disc you did try with ESR, but assuming then that the patching was OK, the first suspect in all these cases is always the disc readability. This translates either into the health and trimming of your CDVD laser, or into the quality of the DVD disc used.
For PS2 backups you should always use top-quality brand names, as it becomes very expensive in the long run to try using the cheaper brands. Not only will you have too many rejects and failures, that cost both money and time, but the bad readability will also actively shorten the lifetime of the DVD laser in your PS2.
I use nothing but "Verbatim 16x AZO DVD-R" myself, and these work fine more than 99 times out of a hundred (and I have tried that many, many times over).
Btw:
I have used ESR-patched backups of this same game myself, so I know that it works fine with ESR, provided that it has been patched properly and burned to a good quality disc.

Hi,
I have a problem in using ESR(r9b) for the game: Dark Cloud 2(NTSC-U). My PS2 console is SCPH-30002 R (a fat Australian one). I burned the esr-patched iso into a DVD-R with 4x speed. When I tried this disk on my FMCB/ESR-enabled PS2(the disk could be recognized as other working patched discs, which are DVD+R with other games burnt on it), some color cycles appeared endlessly when I selected the "start apps" in the ESR menu. The color sequence shown on the screen is: red->blue->pink->dark screen->red->blue->pink->dark screen->..... In some of the cycles, the FMCB would even be rebooted(FMCB reboot logo shows up on the screen but does not fully cover the screen. From the uncovered area, I could still see the same color sequence+ cyan, which would be the last color after each cycle until the FMCB reboot logo is gone. Then the cycle would be set to red->blue->pink->dark screen->.... Would you advise what is the possible problem for that? Is ESR compatiable with Dark Cloud 2 or DVD-R?FMCB version (V1.8)

I don't have the US version of the game, but I have just tested the European version which should be identical except for the video mode and the renamed title "Dark Chronicle" as well as the initial language selector (which I assume the US version doesn't have).
This "SCES_511.90" version of the game boots through ESR without any of the problems you mention on my SCPH-39004 PS2 using a Verbatim 16x DVD-R disc burned at 8x speed.
Best regards: dlanor
